Never posted these, and they are absolutely too rich not to. This is documentation of our adventures in the airports and little mini-vacation (which knocks off #24, for now anyway) and reunion in Buchanan, MI and Cleveland, OH.
Aaaaannndddd, WE'RE OFF!
Day 1
First fatality of the trip, before we even board the first plane: Alec dresses himself these days: Mommy's excited for an adventure!
Me: "Alec, show me how excited you are to fly high high up in the sky!" Me: "Aidan, how excited are you?"
Aidan: "Mommy, hold my hand."
But he's still cooler than the other side of the pillow... Alec is so hoss; he carried the "pack-pack" all day!
Layover in Denver: snack time!
I do NOT turn down nugglin' with my boys, even if it IS in the floor of an airport. How can you beat goldfish, cuddly boys and watching the planes on the runway?!
Uncle Jesse meets us at the airport with Duke! Perfect timing - he drove from St. Louis that morning and pulled into the parking lot at the Chicago airport just as we were landing. Can't beat that! And...30 seconds after pulling away from the airport, we have snoozers. Thank you Jesus, more Lord! Once we make it to Grammy Nancy's, we hit the toys and the deck by the river... Sorry Uncle Jesse, there's a new Sheriff in town!
Uh-oh, he caught the cowboy too!
Not sure what Alec's looking for, but by golly, he's gonna find it! As long as he's not throwing my camera into the river like last year! Mardi Gras beads? Okay!
{insert fun boat ride to Aunt Francis' house here. Due to afore mentioned camera fiasco, I did not bring it with. But we got to ride in the motor boat, "drive" a tractor, feed a horse carrots, and pet baby chicks! AND...Momma Missy caught fireflies for the first time EVER.}
Day 2
...began with a big yummy breakfast, and a delightful jog for mommy while the kids were playin' in their jammies. Here's the view from my little trot, which was a delicious 72 degrees:
Then back to my most perfect room, with the most perfect view to pack up our stuff for the next destination. Seriously, Grammy Nancy's house is an actual bed and breakfast. You should visit some time!
Next up: 5 hour drive to Cleveland in a Sequoia with a 3 year old, 2 4 year olds, a 7 year old, and 3 adults. You'd never believe me if I told you, and sadly I have no pictures to prove it, but the 3 littles slept for at least 3 hours of that drive, and the 7 year old slept about an hour. Way easier than it could've been!
Upon our arrival at Aunt Connie's, we hit the backyard, and with 4 little boys one can assume shirts will be discarded as soon as possible:
Uncle John joined the party as pitcher!
And we finally meet the princess, sweet baby Corinna! With Auntie Heather...
Auntie Margaret with baby girl, checkin' out the sprinkler.
Then, inside we have one takin' a break from the chaos, coloring...
After a day of fun, we packed up our picnic blankets and insect repellant and camped out for fireworks. Uncle Jesse has those pics though...sorry, I know you all wanted this post to be THAT much longer!
Day 3
Destroying the hotel room (what else are you supposed to do to them?!)
Crazy Eights with Aunt Jeannie
Jammer and Aidie nugglin' with Uncle Jesse
Sidewalk chalk crime scene while awaiting our ride to the POOL!
I absolutely will never have enough goggle pics.
Mister Alec the wee one tuckered out...
Perfect summer night, lookin' for fireflies!
Day 4
On our way home, sweet dreamin' on the plane back to home sweet Tulsa.
I won't bore you too much, or include pictures (because I'm horrified to admit that it all actually happened), but it wouldn't be a one for me blog post without including the inevitable fiasco. There was a 2 hour layover in Houston, which turned into a 4 hour layover. One of those hours was spent on a plane with no air conditioning and a kid who crapped his pants when mommy had already decided to put all the spare pull-ups in the "pack-pack" and check it back in Cleveland. Thank God for the community of mommies, and the one who had a whole pack of size 4 diapers who told me to, "take two." We did make it home safely, however, and have nothing but sweet memories of massive adventures!
